Touching Clouds (6/4f) was the latest from a fine Moyglare family to win today, as the Dermot Weld trained filly landed Gowran's Irish EBF Supporting Champions Weekend Maiden, under jockey Chris Hayes.
The daughter of War Front raced prominently throughout the seven furlongs trip, and while strongly pressed in the final furlong, battled well for a neck win over Accomplished
Touching Clouds' juvenile sister Eternal Silence was placed at Group 3 level last Saturday for trainer Jessica Harrington, with both fillies descending from a Moyglare family which raced almost exclusively for Weld, until in recent years.
Weld reported “she’s a very well-bred filly. I trained both the dam and the grandam (Irresistible Jewel in 2002 and Princess Highway in 2012) to win the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot so it was important to get a winning bracket for her.
“She loved that fast ground and seven to a mile is probably the right trip for her. I trained her sister (Chiara Luna) to win over six."
Touching Clouds' great grandam In Anticipation was a dual winner for Moyglare and Weld, and scored at today's venue in 1994.
