The well-backed favourite Snakes And Ladder, just got up to win the last at Naas this evening, the First BBQ Evening June 28th Handicap, for Tommy Stack and Fran Berry.

The son of Rock Of Gibraltar was 5/2 with Paddy Powers this morning but that price didn’t last long and he opened on-course at just 13/8 before going off the clear 7/4 favourite.

The JP McManus owned colt finished a decent fourth to Lucky Kitten at Gowran on his last start and after being settled towards the rear he was switched to the outside from three furlongs out.

He was fifth a furlong out and he kept on best from there to just get up on the line beating the Adrian McGuinness trained, Ian Brennan ridden, Las Encinas (9/1) by a short head. Indy Gal was another short head back in third for Pat Martin and Ronan Whelan at 20/1.

Fozzy Stack said afterwards: "He did well to win from where he came from. He hadn’t the clearest of passages. He is a big horse who will go over hurdles in time".

The winner was purchased by Fozzy Stack for €29,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearlings Sale in 2011.
