Dermot Weld's Edelpour justified 8/13 favouritism to win the Follow Sligo Races On Facebook Race at Sligo today, winning under the trainer's second jockey Leigh Roche.

Roche, who came in for the ride with Pat Smullen in action in Newmarket where he steered Weld's Zannda to take second in the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes, held Edelpour up in last of the four runners, before making his move on the outer before the straight,.

Edelpour moved to the front over a furlong out before recording a length and a quarter win over Harold Peto

Roche later stated "it's good to get that for the boss with Pat (Smullen) away and he's done it well. It's very testing ground and Shane (Foley, on leader Harold Peto) steadied it in front but when I got stuck into him he picked up well. He's a very laid-back and a straight forward horse."
