Tony Carroll, who originates from Buttevant in County Cork, had his first runners in Ireland tonight, at Dundalk, on a day when he also had runners at Doncaster and Wolverhampton. He scored with the last of the trio, Waving (Joseph O'Brien up) in the concluding Jack's Big Night Handicap. Caspian Prince was a beaten favourite in the first for Carroll and O'Brien, when managing only sixth place. Ocean Legend was also at the head of the market in the 7.15, for the Carroll/O’Brien alliance, but he too could manage no better than sixth.

Anyway, Waving (6/4 favourite), already a fantastic servant to owner Carl Hodgson and handler Carroll, 'saved the day' for the travelling party when making it five on the bounce in this mile and a half handicap that wrapped up proceedings on the seven race programme.

O'Brien came from the rear on the former John Oxx-trained Waving. He made headway on the inner entering the straight, eventually leading under a furlong out before going on to record a length and a quarter verdict over Armed Guard (GC & EM)
