Wachman juvenile impresses
Self Preservation showed the benefit of her Navan debut earlier this month by comprehensively reversing placings with market-rival Perfect Godess in the opening five furlongs juvenile maiden at Tipperary.
The 15/8 favourite, with a distinctive white blaze and four socks, tracked the pace-setting pair Perfect Godess (2/1) and Seastar Island (11/1) before settling the issue quickly when stretching clear inside the final furlong.
Wayne Lordan 's mount had five lengths to spare over Perfect Godess at the line, with Seastar Island another length and a quarter back in third.
Winning trainer David Wachman said, “She always showed plenty at home but ran very green the first day, and lost her chance coming out of the gates. I expect plenty of improvement from her, and she got away with it on the ground today. The five furlongs was too sharp but her class won it for her. She should be competitive in those Stakes races.”
