Vultan proved different class to his rivals in the second split of Gowran Park's Joe Bollard Memorial Maiden despite showing a tendency to jump left throughout.

The 8/11 favourite got on terms with Gregory's Gift at the fourth last and soon took over. He attempted to assert at the next but clipped the top bar.

He had all the opposition except for Luke Short burned off approaching the home straight. Luke Short came under pressure to keep with the leader coming to two out.

He drew clear of Luke Short racing to the last and strode away by nine lengths for Joseph O'Brien.

Jockey JJ Slevin said: “He’s highly rated on the Flat. He jumped a bit to his left but other than that he was fairly good.

“I think he’s a fair horse off his Flat mark and he seems to have transferred it. Hopefully he should have a future at this game.”

Vultan reached a mark of 91 on the Flat - he won a handicap in Roscommon and was runner-up in a premier handicap at the Curragh.

He was runner-up on hurdling debut at Navan last month.
