Morning outsider Dontdooddson landed a gamble in the Killarney Handicap Chase at that Kerry racecourse today, with jockey Paul Cawley registering a winner with his first ride for successful trainer Robert Tyner.

Both Allardyce (sold) and Ricky Langford (change in going) were 9.30am withdrawals from the race, by which time Dontdooddson was generally a 25/1 chance. However the Tyner-trained gelding was a 9/1 chance by lunchtime and was returned 10/1.

In the race, Dontdooddson stayed on strongly racing along the stands' rail to beat runner-up Clody Valley by a length and a quarter.

The eight year old's two previous wins were in 2018 and 2019 and having pulled up on two 2020 runs, was today returning from a 325 days absence

The eight year old gelding carries the colours of owner Brendan Keogh and afterwards Tyner's wife Mary Tyner reported “that was Paul's (Cawley) first ride for us. We were looking for a claimer and got him on Friday and everything went according to plan.

“The horse was great and Paul did everything right.

“The horse is back to form, we didn't know what happened him last year and he just wasn't right. Hopefully he can keep going now.”
