At the sixth time of asking Truth Prevails got off the mark in the NavanRacecourse.ie Maiden for Willie McCreery and Declan McDonogh.
The three-year-old tracked the leaders, and she was fifth at halfway stage of this sprint.
Making headway on the outer under two furlongs out, the chestnut was ridden to dispute the lead over a furlong out.
Keeping on inside the final furlong Truth Prevails led in the final seventy five yards to beat Glow Worm by a neck.
“She's a well-bred little filly by Siyouni and it's very important to get her to win a maiden,” said McCreery.
“We'll try and get a bit of black-type by the end of the year, she loves that soft ground.
“Declan rode her last week and said he gave her too much light so he wanted to cover her up and gave her a lovely bit of cover today.
“He said he just hit the front too soon as she picked them up very easy but I liked the way she battled back. We are learning about her.
“I'm delighted for Johnny Connaughton who bought her as a foal but wasn't getting enough for her as a yearling. She'll join his broodmare band if she can get some black-type.”
