Tranquil has rivals all at Sea
Last year's Paddy Power Gold Cup winner Tranquil Sea got his season off to the best possible start when readily landing the odds in the featured Clonmel Oil Chase.
Edward O'Grady 's charge was all the rage for this Grade 2 event and was sent off the 10/11 favourite to beat five rivals (in the absence of the lame Siegemaster).
The eight-year-old was always travelling sweetly under Andrew McNamara, and forged past the front-running Let Yourself Go approaching the second last.
McNamara didn't need to exert himself too much on the run-in to beat Let Yourself Go by two lengths, with Scotsirish finding no extra in the closing stages a further length and three quarters back in third.
O'Grady said, “He established that he can at least go right-handed now. That was one of today's objectives. The logical step now is to go for the John Durkan at Punchestown. It is the right trip for the horse, and he will have a run under his belt. I hope that he's at least as good if not better than last season.”
Adrian Maguire was delighted with Let Yourself Go, and is hopeful that he can improve further from this run.
