Townend Loses Claim With Second Treble

Wed 31st Dec 2008, 16:03

Paul Townend completed a 26 and a half to one treble on Indian Spring Watchurhouse and Burren Bob at Tramore. Following up from a first success for Edward O'Grady on the former, he made an initial mount for Paul Nolan a winning one on Burren Bob in the www.tramore-racecourse.com Beginners Chase.

Again the Cork teenager oozed confidence on Burren Bob (at least 7s in the morning into 3/1 joint favouritism) to coast by the other one for money Plaisir D'Estruval (at least 8s in the morning into a share of 3/1 favouritism) on the run-in for a one and a half length victory.

Winning trainer Paul Nolan remembered Paddy Doyle (a member of the Thatch Ferns Racing Syndicate), who died recently. He added: "That was a super ride from Paul on a horse that can be difficult to ride. It is great to see a talent like him coming through."

On the occasion of his second treble, Townend loses his right to claim. (EM)
