Dinnie's Vinnie repelled the challenge of the favourite, Concordin to win the extended three mile handicap chase in Roscommon for father and son Philip and Luke Dempsey.
The 7/1 chance appeared vulnerable coming to the last fence as Concordin unleashed his challenge between horses.
Dinnie's Vinnie jumped the last slightly ahead while the 3/1 jolly was less than fluent.
The 10-year-old was ridden out on the run-in to account for Concordin by three parts of a length. Buck Dancing who was nibbled at in the market from 12/1 to 9/1, was five lengths away in third.
Philip Dempsey said: "It's great. He battled great and, though he's my own son, he gave him a great ride. He threw everything at him.
“He's a tough horse and they suit each other. He's had a great season. They get on great together.
“You're always tempted to keep going and we'll see if we see something or if the ground changes.
“He has been in a good while and has raced every month since September. He probably deserves a break.
“I haven't too many for the summer so it would be good to keep the numbers up and get a few days out.
“Luke thought he'd handle this track but I wasn't sure.”
