Off a 174 day break To Glory was impressive in a competitive looking HOLLYWOODBETS HORSE RACING AND SPORTS BETTING Median Auction Race at Dundalk.
This performance was well-flagged up by the market and for Ger Lyons and Colin Keane the Toronado gelding slammed Rebel Step by five and a half lengths, much to the pleasure of those that made him strong 9/4 favourite.
To Glory raced in the rear of mid-division before making headway into fifth travelling well two furlongs out.
Leading a furlong and a half out To Glory was soon ridden clear, staying on strongly in the final furlong for an easy success on all-weather debut and racing as a gelding for the initial occasion.
Stable representative Shane Lyons said: “We liked him last year and he won his maiden first time out in Limerick. He was very green and babyish last year and a bit keen.
“Today Colin dropped him in to settle him and he did everything right. He’s strengthened up over the winter and he was very impressive.
“He had to mature mentally over the winter which he has and it opens up a lot of doors going forward.
“He’s after pulling away from a nice field there so the future looks bright for him after that.”
J.A. Heffernan, rider of San Martino trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lugged right all the way up the straight.
