Feelin Groovy quickened clear in good style to land the four-year-old bumper at Limerick this afternoon and give 16-year-old Tim Hyde his first taste of success in the saddle.

Hyde became the fourth generation of his family, with the same name, to ride a winner.

The Mastercraftsman gelding, trained by the rider's grandfather, had finished placed on his three previous outings and went to post a 9/2 shot for the two-miler.

He nipped up the inner to lead turning for home and soon scooted clear of his rivals before galloping on strongly in the closing stages to post a eight-length success over The Big Galloper

The winning jockey is in transition year in Glenstal and had been in the plate for the horse's previous three runs.

Tim Hyde, his grandfather and trainer, said "Tim is in school and he got a kick out of it I'd say!

"He (Feelin' Groovy) is only a little fellow and wasn't bought for this job but is a good jumper. I'll run him in a winners' bumper for the young lad to ride.

"He'll then jump hurdles but I'd say he wouldn't be able to look out over fences!"
