Third time lucky for well-backed Knight

Saracen Knight landed the odds in the opener at Gowran Park this afternoon when asserting in the closing stages.

Seamie Heffernan was soon in front on the 1/2 shot (11/10 this morning) but was pushing along turning for home on the Ballydoyle colt.

The son of Camelot drifted left under pressure when Heffernan asked for maximum effort a furlong-and-a-half out but kept on well inside the final furlong.

He went on to record a length-and-three-quarter success over newcomer Razoul It was third time lucky for the winner who had been third on his two previous outings.

Heffernan said:- "I liked him at the Curragh and the two that beat him the last day are above average. He stays well.

"We have plenty of Camelots and I'd say there is still more to come from them. They are not as early as what you would like.

"The ground is heavy."
