The familiar colours of Alan and Ann Potts were back in the winners’ enclosure in the Munster Supporters Club Mares Maiden Hurdle, although the 11/8 favourite Theleze did have some good fortune on her side.
The French import, who made the frame on all three previous starts this season for present connections, was sent to the front before three out by Andrew Lynch.
Willie Mullins’ charge and Tellherimnothere both travelled well to draw clear early in the straight, and the result was still in some doubt until the latter fell at the last when about a length down.
This left Theleze well clear although Lynch rode her out to beat Castlerock Rose (14/1) by 15 lengths, with Tango Moll (10/1) another three and a quarter lengths adrift in third.
Mullins said, “She was a little fortunate, and she’ll go out in trip now. Andrew said she would probably be better suited by better ground as well. We’ll find a race for her at Fairyhouse.”
