Adrian Keatley is excited to give The Broghie Man an opportunity in Group Three company when he lines up for the Goffs Lacken Stakes at Naas today.

The son of Cityscape returned in triumph following a 160-day break, during which he was gelded, when holding Speak In Colours by a short head in the Listed Committed Stakes at Navan last month.

Keatley reports The Broghie Man to have come on in leaps and bounds since that outing.

“We’ve been very happy with the horse since Navan and he has come on a ton since that run,” said the Co Kildare handler.

“Gerald Mosse rode him work on nice ground at the Curragh last week and he was delighted with him after that, so we are happy to take our chance and hopefully we’ll be there or thereabouts.

“I’d say a lot of people thought that we caught some of the horses off-guard early in the season at Navan on heavy ground, but we feel we have a nice horse that can go on nicer ground so we are looking forward to Sunday.

“He had his last breeze well the other day, so we are delighted with him.”

The Broghie Man renews rivalry with three horses who finished behind him last time.

Speak In Colours was only a short head away in second and is one of three runners from Joseph O’Brien’s stable, along with True Blue Moon and Now You’re Talking. Fleet Review and Sioux Nation both trained by Aidan O’Brien, were well-beaten in third and fourth places respectively.

The Ballydoyle trainer also saddles Dali as O’Brien father and son are responsible for six of the seven declared runners.
