Teacher's Pet was well supported in Downpatrick from 5/1 to 7/2 favourite and punters were on the money as she kept on well up the run-in to score.

Luke Dempsey, in the JP McManus colours, settled her in fourth in this two mile seven mares' handicap hurdle before the pair improved to second after five out.

She came with her challenge to lead before the final hurdle and saw off Urtheoneiwant by two lengths. Genesta (4/1) was a further nine and a half lengths away in third.

Handler Philip Dempsey said: "She deserved that, she has been running consistently well. She's bred to get that sort of trip. I'd say we will look at fences, we'll talk to Frank (Berry). She wants that ground."
