Teach Nua wins opener
Dermot Weld recorded his third festival win after landing the opening race on today’s card, the Tote Placepot Races 1 To 6 Maiden Hurdle with 8/1 shot Teach Nua in the hands of Paul Townend for owner Joseph Keeling.
Winning trainer Weld said afterwards, “Basically he’s a flat horse jumping hurdles. If he is ok in the morning he could run in 1m ½ handicap tomorrow. I see he has a cut on his leg, so we’ll have to wait and see how he is in the morning.”
“Paul gave him a lovely ride. I really thought the ground might have gone on him beforehand.”
