Following on from Heliac rsquo;s success in the previous event, the featured “Red God,” there was another three-year-old winning filly by Champs Elysees as Tartlette (10/1) impressed in split one of the Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap.
This penultimate event at Dundalk saw Tartlette make her debut for Shane Crawley, after being bought out of Hughie Morrison’s yard for 11,000 guineas.
She showed a good turn of foot under Seamie Heffernan to beat For Your Eyes and favourite Cache Queen by two and a quarter lengths and half a length.
“I’m delighted for the lads (Eyeroller Syndicate which includes Niall O’Reilly from Paddy Power). They approached me in the spring and said they would like to get involved so we picked out her at the July Sale," said Crawley.
“She’s turned inside out since we got her. I just keep her out in the field and keep her happy. We were quietly confident coming here today.
“Her half-brother won three over fences and the Champs Elysees’ are known for jumping hurdles so she could go that way next spring or summer time.”
James J. Doyle, rider of Navajo Ridge trained by Gerard Keane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran a bit short of room in the closing stages of this race.
