Station Closed stormed up the hill in Downpatrick to cut down her rivals and give Gordon Elliott a double on the card.

This extended two mile five handicap hurdle was a step up in trip for the nine-year-old mare and she clearly relished it.

She came home best to prevail at 16/1 with Denis O'Regan in the plate.

This was her first victory on her 22nd start. She delivered by two lengths from Ashjan (10/1) who was a nose in front of Kilkeaskins First (9/1).

Ian Amond, representing Elliott, said: "It's grand. It is good for the racing club (Gordon Elliott Racing Club). They are getting a bit of enjoyment out of the few horses they have. They are lucky, they have had a few winners so its good for them.

"We'll keep her going now for the summer, obviously she has turned the corner. She stayed going well, the step up in trip and better ground helped. I suppose this time of year they can change when they get a bit of sun.

"She has always worked alright. Her runs haven't been great so far but hopefully she is going the right way now. She might pick up another one like that, she won well at the end."
