Paul Deegan had to endure the frustration of seeing Dundalk's Friday fixture bite the dust after the big market move for his Coco Bella. Srucahan s win in the Macari's Supporting The Kildare Rose Handicap under Chris Hayes, put a smile on Deegan's face at the Curragh though.
Connections and supporters of the favourite, Bird's Eye View were doing anything but smiling as her saddled slipped from early and Fran Berry couldn't give his mount much assistance.
That Royal Applause filly eventually finished last after Srucahan had travelled well to deliver his challenge.
Completing a hat-trick, Srucahan was asked to go and win his race inside the last and he ended up proving a length and a half to superior to Joe Eile
Deegan said: "He's a progressive little sprinter and he is going the right way.
"As long as we have soft ground we'll continue with him.
"I still don't know how I didn't manage to win with him as a two-year-old.
"He's definitely sharpened up over the winter now. He's really learning how to sprint.
"The listed race at Cork next weekend could be an option. The owners would like to get him some black-type (he's a home bred).
"We'll see how he comes out of this before deciding about Cork." (AM & EM)
