Square scores on second start for Mullins
On his second start for Willie Mullins, Dorset Square scored his third career win in the Clonmel Oil Service Station Handicap Hurdle. Paul Townend was always going well on the bottom-weight and he kept the four to one shot up to his work to see off Back Me Up by half a length.
Owners, the Shanakiel Racing Syndicate also had the top-weight, Convincing in this three miler, that fellow dropping out to finish a tailed off last. Whinstone Boy fell at the hurdle in front of the stands with a circuit to go, badly hampering and forcing Ruby Walsh to unseat from Financialregulator and the eventual second, Back Me Up was also hampered in that incident.
Willie Mullins said afterwards: "The trip at Punchestown the last day (two miles) was too short and he had a nice light-weight on his back for that ground. He'll stick to longer trips now."
Mullins was doubling his tally on the day having landed the opener with Fionnegas
