Joseph O’Brien and Dylan Browne McMonagle could team up for a couple of winners at Dundalk this evening with Spanish Cara and Dollerina both holding strong claims.
Spanish Cara made a promising debut when third to Bucanero Fuerte in the opening juvenile maiden of the season at the Curragh last year and the winner went on to land the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes.
The Raven’s Pass filly has not been seen since but appears to carry plenty of stable confidence and is a general 6/4 favourite for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden (5.40).
Dollerina showed promise on all four starts last year and in the absence of well-bred newcomer Igor Stravinsky, is now odds-on for the Get Best Odds Guaranteed At BetVictor Maiden at 6.45. Ferrybank has won twice on the polytrack for Ted Walsh and Billy Lee already this year and connections will be pleased to see he’s again drawn wide in 15 for the Friday 12th July Ladies Day At Dundalk Stadium Handicap.
The six-year-old gelding has appreciated been kept wide to gain those victories and has been heavily supported from 11/4 into 11/8 to repeat the trick. Brave Thought is also proving a popular order in the concluding Anthony McCrave Senior Memorial Handicap (Division 2) with the Luke Comer-trained filly shortening from 7/1 into 7/2.
The first on an eight-race card gets underway at 4.30 while Dundalk also hosts another evening meeting on Saturday commencing at 4.20.
