The feature race of the day The Red Mills Hurdle was won by Charles Byrnes 11/10 favourite Solwhit under Davy Russell.

Russell raced his mount in behind the leaders, took closer order approaching straight, improved to lead before last and stayed on well to win by a convincing 3 ? lengths.

Byrnes commented afterwards, "That was a great performance it was probably my own fault that he got beaten in Thurles the last day he was only back from Cheltenham 4 days in hindsight we probably shouldn't have run him. As regards plans for him everything will be geared towards next year and tip away for the rest of this year and take on the big boys next season."
