Snake proves tough in Dundalk opener
Jolly Snake proved tough in front when claiming the opening two-year-old maiden at Dundalk under Fran Berry.
The Ger O'Leary-trained colt was sharp out of the stalls and led his rivals at a good pace. Clondinnery moved upsides at the two furlong mark and looked set to get his head in front passing the furlong marker.
The leader refused to back down, however, and held his rival at bay to record a neck success.
"He's tough and stays well. The experience stood to him well," said Berry afterwards.
"He was very quick into stride and when Keagan came to me they went hard at it from two down.
"He stuck at it well and was going away again at the line. It was a good tough performance and he franked the form of the race last time.
"I rode him work during the week and he's a nice horse. He's a bit better than a median auction horse."
