The Cahir Handicap was won by the Dermot Weld trained Vivien Lee (7/2 JF) under Pat Smullen in the colours of Robert Blacoe and Kevin Dunne.

Smullen raced the Galileo gelding in behind the leaders, took closer order approaching straight and under a strong drive by Smullen he got up to lead inside the furlong and hold off the fast finishing Asiya of Norman Cassidy's.

The other 7/2 joint favourite Perfect Buttons of Joanna Morgan's finished 6th.
