Pat Smullen got on the Ballybrit 2017 score-sheet for the first time when helping Willie Mullins to a day five double. Their representative Renneti could hardly have been any more impressive in the concluding Budweiser Race.
An eighth winner over the five days for Mullins, Renneti produced a decisive burst from the two furlong pole and his rivals were soon chasing shadows.
The 11/4 joint favourite eventually passed the post with no less than thirteen lengths in hand over Ted Veale
The other market-leader Motherland could manage only fifth place.
"He's a horse that has his own mind but after all that rain he loved the ground," said Mullins.
"Maybe a lot of the other horses didn't act on it but our fella loved it.
"He does enjoy his racing out of stalls and we'll probably try to stick to that.
"He could go for the Long Distance Cup on Champions Day at Ascot."
The other Mullins winner this evening was Whiskey Sour in the featured Guinness Premier Handicap under Declan McDonogh.
