Christina Simpson rode her second winner when 16/1 shot Pick Your Battle got home by a short head and a neck from Rose Angel (7/4 favourite) and Relarita in division two of the Jolly January Dining Handicap at Dundalk.
Rose Angel came with her effort down the outer having raced in the rear of mid-division, but she just failed to catch Pick Your Battle who'd led inside the final furlong.
Winning trainer Andy Oliver commented: "Christina is riding well and thoroughly deserved that. She's a very hard worker, and a good technical rider.
"This horse had a nice first run but was then a bit disappointing so we freshened him up."
Pick Your Battle was equipped with a first-time tongue-strap on this occasion.
R.P. Cleary, rider of Coilogshakeysirgin trained by Denis W. Cullen, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount suffered accidental interference in the home straight and had to check.
