Cian Hughes recorded his first winner on the track after he just got up on the line to land the Rock view (QR) Flat Race aboard 7/4 shot Silent Picture

Hughes who was prominent for most came with a late surge on the run-in and just got up on the line to deny long time leader Garlough by a short head.

Twenty four year old Hughes from Celbridge is based with the Ardclough trainer for the past year and has ten point to point winners under his belt.

A delighted Taaffe said afterwards: “He’s a smart horse, a natural athlete. He’s always shown us plenty at home.”

“He’s still a big baby and he hasn’t learnt a lot. He was very green out there today.”

“We probably won’t run him until the Autumn, he’s a chaser really. He’s from a family of good chasers so we’ll probably school him and then throw him out.”
