Silver Sheen stuck on well in the closing stages to get off the mark in the Michael Moore Car Sales Maiden Hurdle at Wexford.

Jessica Harrington 's charge was sent to post a solid 15/8 favourite for the two-and-a-half mile contest and was produced to lead going to the fourth last by Robbie Power. Mc Alpine tried to throw down a challenge running down the hill but Silver Sheen asserted going to the second last.

Power kept his mount going, despite the gelding running around slightly under pressure, to record a two-and-a-half length win.

The winner was making his third outing over timber and had been pulled up previously in two bumpers after his saddle slipped.

Power said afterwards:- “The saddle has slipped on him a couple of times. He's still a big baby as you see when he got to the front, he was lugging away to his right and was still plenty green.

“I'd like to think there is still more improvement to come. He stays very well so a step up in trip will happen sooner rather than later.”
