Santana hits the right notes in the bumper

Gordon Elliott was out of luck in the feature at Kilbeggan with Barra tipping up when in front at the last, but finished the evening on a winning note when Santana Plessis (8/13 fav) took the bumper in the hands of Jamie Codd. Getting his head in front at the sixth time of asking, he forged ahead inside the final furlong to defeat Tudors Glory by three and three quarter lengths, with a long gap back to third home No Way Pedro It completed a double for Elliott, after Westland Row rsquo;s earlier victory in the beginners’ chase.

Gordon Elliott said “He's a grand big horse. He's been threatening that for a while.

“I'm glad he got his head in front for the owner Danny Charlesworth and he can go out on his holidays now and enjoy himself.”
