Andy Oliver admits he was left scratching his head at the performance of Run The Red Light in the Debutante Stakes, but he is hoping she can bounce back in the Staffordstown Stud Stakes at the Curragh today.
The filly had looked promising when winning a hotly contested race at Headquarters on just her second start, but stepped up in class she trailed home last.
Oliver has put a line through that effort as he knows she is better than she showed, and he hopes she backs up his faith at the weekend.
The trainer said: "We couldn't find a reason for it. Fran (Berry) just said she felt flat on the way down and flat through the race, she didn't travel at all.
"We wondered if she was in season, but nothing showed up. She had looked promising before that and I still think she is. We've put a line through her last run and given her plenty of time.
"If anything we took heart that she was the first one beaten as it obviously wasn't her running. The race she had won has worked out really well, so if she'd finished sixth or something we might have thought that's as good as she is.
"We've waited for this race and she's as good as I can have her at home."
