Son Of Hypnos gained a third win in five starts when landing the Congrats To The 2020 Flat Champions Handicap at Naas.
Matthew Smith has care of this fellow for his father Kevin, and Robbie Colgan was in the plate.
The Morpheus gelding made all, and he was pushed along two furlongs out.
Clear a furlong out, the 14/1 winner was strongly pressed close home, all out to keep his fellow Meath runner, Gavin Cromwell’s Yafordadoe at bay by half a length.
Also trained in the Royal County, Ideal Pal (Mick Mulvany) and Road To Dubai (Gordon Elliott) filled the third and fourth positions.
“He’s straight forward enough but was just a bit keen the last day and burned himself out. It was either go on with him or get him a bit of cover and they left him alone in front,” said the winning trainer.
“Robbie got a breather into him and kicked on again. He’s tough, stays well and handles that ground well.
“If I had my way he’d go hurdling but I’ll have to talk to the boss!”
