Philip Rothwell and Simon Torrens combined for a quick double at Ballinrobe this evening when Game And Glory finished off strongly to land the Boylesports Mares Handicap Hurdle. Flidais looked set for victory in the two-mile-six contest when moving stylishly into the lead after the second last.

Game And Glory was under pressure in second going to the final flight but stuck to her guns to wear down the leader in the closing stages and record a length-and-a-half win.

It was a return to form for the well-backed 5/1 winner, who was a big as 20/1 this morning, as she had been well beaten on her previous couple of outings.

Torrens said:- "I took my time on her and was trying to pick up as much prize-money as I could but things just fell my way.

“We went a nice even gallop the whole way and I got a lovely tow into the race off John Ryan's (Flidais) and when we turned into the straight she just found an extra gear.

"She missed the last. For a little mare she's brilliant to 'lep' but the ground is probably a bit slower than she'd ideally like and maybe she just doesn't have the same spring out of that ground. But five strides after the last I was pretty confident I was going to get there.

"When you're riding for Philip one thing you won't be short of is confidence. No matter what type of ride you give a horse of his, he fills you with loads of confidence going out on the next horse.

"He's had a great season and it's a credit to him and all his staff at home."
