Rocket Lad proved too hot to handle for his rivals when making all to claim the concluding bumper on the card at Tramore this evening.

Emmet Mullins' charge was sent off a 4/9 shot for the two-mile contest and was to the fore throughout under Ruth Dudfield.

The fog descended at the Co. Waterford venue for the last race but Rocket Lad emerged from the gloom inside the final furlong to run out a cosy length winner over Gun Merchant

Mullins, saddling his second bumper winner in as many days, said: "We were damn glad he was still in front when he came out the fog again.

“He is a lovely horse, he is a gent of a horse and Ruth gets on great with him. She ride him out every day at home and I’m delighted to be able to give her a winner.

“We’ll give him a go at a winners bumper. He is a bit of leery divil and I know we couldn’t see much today but I think there is plenty in the tank when you go for him again. He'll go for the winners bumper and we’ll see where the summer takes us after that."
