Rebel Cry showed the benefit of a recent outing over hurdles at Limerick when landing a gamble in the Devil’s Bit Handicap Chase at Thurles.
The Norman Lee-trained gelding was available at 13/2 this morning, and attracted further support on track from 7/2 into 11/4 favourite.
Those who forced his price right down had their only anxious moment as the nine-year-old gelding got a bit low at the final fence but he soon asserted on the run-in for Jack Kennedy. The Conker Club was three and a quarter lengths back in second, with Deano a further 13 lengths adrift in third.
Rebel Cry also won a handicap hurdle here just over a year ago, and Lee said "He did it well and likes it around here. I'll look for a similar contest next."
