Benefitting from a quick-thinking ride from Colin Keane, San Aer (3/1) landed the KWD Median Auction Maiden.

Having settled his mount in mid-division, the champion jockey made a decisive move to kick on over two furlongs out and was soon a few lengths clear of his rivals.

The 15/8 favourite So Fascinating stayed on well in the final furlong but San Aer had built up enough of an advantage to hold on by half a length.

Bred by Jim Bolger, the Vocalised gelding had been placed once in ten previous starts.

Winning trainer Tom Mullins said: "I thought I'd have won a maiden with him before now and Colin liked him there and said he'd improve from it.

"He hasn't run for a while so I was worried and the softening ground told on his fitness as Colin said he took a blow a furlong down.

"I'm hoping there is improvement there and he could go jumping. Colin said he loves the softer ground."
