Quick double for Smullen aboard improving Tak
Allegra Tak continued her rich vein of form, by taking the last race on the card on Irish Oaks day, the Irish Times, EBF Fillies Handicap, for trainer Harry Rogers and jockey Pat Smullen, who was recording a quick double, having scored aboard Late Day Sun thirty minutes earlier.
The winning Italian bred, daughter of Invincible Spirit, has been in top form so far this year, finishing third on her seasonal debut at Limerick last month, before winning at Naas and finishing second at Sligo
Here the 5yo, recorded a facile victory, leading early on in the centre of the track from the eventual runner-up Queenie Keen (13/2) on the rail, before being ridden clear a furlong out, to record an easy three and a half length win.
The winner was sent off the 4/1 co favourite of three, with the others being Foot Perfect who finished third, and Fiddle Player who was last of the eight runners.
Winning trainer Harry Rogers said afterwards: "She seems to be improving again.
"She didn't seem to cope with Sligo (on her last start).
“She did it well today and will go for a fillies handicap over seven furlongs at Galway next or a six furlong race at Dundalk.”
