Giant's Quest quickened away smartly on the run-in to give Ruby Walsh a quick double at Gowran Park.

Walsh settled the 8/13 favourite behind front-runner Flick Of A Switch in the two-mile maiden hurdle before hitting the front three from home.

Harry Rogers' charge was joined at the second last by Fairview Star and Mutiska but Walsh sat motionless.

Mutiska cried enough before the last and Fairview Star had no answer when the hotpot moved through the gears after the final flight.

The Giant's Causeway gelding went on to record a cosy five-and-a-half length victory.

It was a due reward for the winner who had been placed five times over hurdles before today including in a competitive Punchestown handicap on his last start.

“He was entitled to win that off his mark. He's a fast ground horse although I'm not sure any of them want it that fast,” said Rogers.

“He may go to Bellewstown and he could end up in the Galway Hurdle. He's got plenty of options.”

Walsh had also landed the previous handicap hurdle on the Willie Mullins-trained Security Breach
