Queen Alphabet stepped up on the promise of her debut third at Killarney when taking the bumper at Roscommon. Long House Saint set off into a lead which he stretched to a distance, but as he turned into the home straight the stride pattern shortened and at the furlong pole he was a spent force.

Jane Mangan and Queen Alphabet (11/2) went rattling by, but were pursued all the way to the line by No Cash Flow (20/1) who failed by a head on his first racecourse appearance. Cut Loose the heavily backed 2/1 favourite for Mags and Patrick Mullins, couldn’t stay with the front two and had to be content with third.

Peter Fahey, who has been on a terrific run in bumpers, said: “She’s a very good filly. Jane gave her a brilliant ride.

“She can be very keen and Mark (Fahey) did a very good job on her first time out to switch her off and he taught her a lot.

“She’ll mix it between the flat and bumpers and wants a bit of nice ground.”
