Neatly Put available at 25/1 this morning with both Paddy Power and Betfred, proved another inspired morning price punt at Thurles as the Rail Link gelding scored in the bumper.
Sent off on track at 5/1, Denis Hogan’s charge bridged a gap of over nine years without a winner under rules for rider John O’Meara.
This ‘touch’ followed on from another morning price gamble on Mandasini in the mares maiden hurdle.
O’Meara’s mount led early in the straight and, with nearest pursuer Midsommarkransen hanging badly left in the final furlong, was driven out to score by a length and a quarter. Loughmore Queen was a further four lengths back in third.
The winner is owned by Liverpool man Mick Denning.
Hogan said, "John is my head man and is a talented rider who should still be riding winners. He's really good in the yard and, along with my other staff, is top class.
"This fellow has a fair engine and wasn't ready when fourth to Martello Tower in April and then scoped wrong behind Forgotten Rules.
"He won a schooling bumper recently by eight lengths. I knew he'd a fair engine, and told the lads to have a few quid on.
"We might try a winners' bumper now but he also jumps well and will make a proper hurdler."
