Declan McDonogh brought up a double on Pulse Of Shanghai (100/30) in the Test Your Tipping Talents At PUNTERS.HOLLYWOODBETS.COM Every Dundalk Meeting Rated Race.
After winning the opener on Rathib for Joseph O’Brien, McDonogh repeated the feat he achieved here on Monday when he booted home Linus Larrabee (Eddie Lynam) and St George’s Head for Kieran Cotter.
Pulse Of Shanghai was also for Cotter, and here he made it three wins on the spin over seven furlongs at this venue, a sequence that began on October 9th.
This time he chased the leader in second, and was travelling well two furlongs out.
Ridden to lead a furlong and a half out, the Dragon Pulse gelding stayed on well in the final furlong to comfortably beat Master Matt by a length and three parts.
“He seems to love the surface up here,” said Cotter.
“We'll put our hands up as we've maybe been getting it wrong during the year, running him on soft ground and trying to ride races on him.
“He's happiest up there rolling along, he's travelling his own pace and he seems to love it. He's improving.
“I didn't think he'd win as easy, I thought it would be a dog fight and we'd be lucky if we won it. He won well.
“He beat a horse of ours, Strong Johnson, last year when Jim (Ryan) trained him and he went up to 91 so maybe we are underestimating this fella.
“He was quick out of the gates there and Declan was fantastic on him. He gets a good tune out of him.”
G.M. Ryan, rider of War Hero trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got upset in the starting stalls and was slowly away.
