Primroseandblue for the Willie and Emmet Mullins team battled all the way to the line to keep Paddy The Celeb at bay in Limerick’s two mile rated hurdle.

The 10-year-old gelding made all, but was joined on the run to the second last by Paddy The Celeb. Primroseandblue was going the better of the pair as Andrew McNamara started to row away and issue reminders on Paddy The Celeb.

Jumping the last Primroseandblue (10/3) was slightly in front of Paddy The Celeb (13/8f) who was rallying for pressure. However the latter pecked on landing after the last and couldn’t get on terms with the winner who was all out to score by a head.

Emmet Mullins said: “He’s a proper summer ground horse. I was a bit worried about the trip and that’s why I bounced out and made it. Hopefully there’ll be another race in him during the summer."
