Shannon Glory (10/3 joint-favourite) was a wide margin winner of the Dawn Milk Omega Mares' Maiden Hurdle.

The five-year-old, placed over course and distance on her Rules debut in May and runner-up at Tramore last month, was always in a lovely rhythm close to the pace and went on after three out.

Jack Kennedy just had to keep her up to her work and she galloped on stoutly to defeat Queshi Bridge by a dozen lengths.

Winning trainer Paul Power, based in Waterford, said: "I rode her in point-to-points but not very well, as I couldn't win on her! I always liked her but she couldn't handle winter ground and she was beaten in a confined point-to-point by a ten year old which had been eventing.

"In fairness she hasn't run a bad race on solid ground and on form it wasn't a total surprise she won so well. She met traffic problems at Tramore and we rode her handier today.

"There is a mares' novice for her at Listowel (in September) so that is something we might aim for and then she'll get a break for the winter."
