Pomeriggio (5/1) added further Christmas cheer for her syndicate of owners today, as the Jessica Harrington-trained filly landed Dundalk's opening Gateway Hotel Dundalk Claimer before going unclaimed.
The Caravaggio-filly led or raced second for much of the race and, ridden by Nathan Crosse, stayed on stoutly for a comfortable win over Cool Dan
Pomeriggio translates in Italian as 'afternoon' and, appropriately, Kate Harrington reported "the syndicate (It's All About The Girls) has been with us a while and are actually at their Christmas lunch so this will help the wine go down!
“They also had Youcrackmeup with us this year so they're having a good time."
She added “Pomeriggio has really relished the surface and we have done a lot of stall work with her. She broke well out of the gates and did it very, very nicely.
“She has threatened to do that plenty of times. It just didn't quite click with her but she really relished that surface. She was very strong at the finish and loved it.
Pomeriggio went unclaimed €15,000 with runner-up Cool Dan being the only horse to change hands, selling to A. Leah, to be trained by Leanne Breen, for €12,000.
