J J Slevin, fresh from his big win over at Cheltenham yesterday on Champagne Classic, took the honours on Tidy Zag at Limerick, when that veteran showed himself to be no back number in the Limerick Family Fun Day On 21st May Handicap Hurdle.

Backed from 7/2 (bigger earlier) into 11/4, Tidy Zag won his first race in over three years with an always to the fore approach in this two miler.

He wasn't fluent two out but Ray Hackett's charge soon asserted and he stayed on well on the run-in to beat Lets High Five It by eight and a half lengths.

"He's had a lot of problems but likes it around here - although he never won here before he has worked around here a lot of times," said Hackett.

"It's super to win at his age and he's had a lot of physio with Jim Bergin who has helped to keep him right and it's the first year in three that we've been able to train him from race to race.

"In fairness to the handicapper he gave him a chance and hopefully he's not finished yet."

P.T. Enright, rider of Emerald Honours trained by John J. Walsh, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not handle the ground.
