The difficulties of riding Kilbeggan were again demonstrated when Bryan Cooper was twice denied runs along the rail in the Kinnegad Maiden Hurdle aboard Seefood and his troubled passage helped Supreme Carolina to justify odds of 8/15 (from as big as 10/11 in places this morning).
Ruby Walsh always had the winner perfectly position at the heads of affairs whilst the sweet-travelling Seefood couldn't get up the inner when making a move after four out. He still had every chance when not getting through nearest the fence on the approach to the last and at the finish he went down by two and three parts of a length to Supreme Carolina.
Willie Mullins trains Supreme Carolina, an unlucky loser at Cork 19 days ago, for the Supreme Horse Racing Club.
Steve Massey, representing the winning owners, said: "We have 14 horses with Willie and 3 with Donald McCain."
Not surprisingly a steward's enquiry saw the judge's placings remain unaltered. Boxer Beat was struggling to make an impression when his rider Mick Darcy got unseated at the last having lost an iron before the flight. (TW & EM)
