Pivotal Revive (2/1), in the first-time cheekpieces, just held Walsingham by the minimum margin in the mile maiden for three-year-olds plus in Leopardstown.
Shane Foley drove Pivotal Revive to the front from Highland Rahy racing to the final furlong but Walsingham was being wound up in fourth to challenge.
Walsingham (7/4f) made powerful headway into second in the closing stages and as racecourse commentator Jerry Hannon said "came fast and furious" in his pursuit of the leader. He kept gaining close home but went down by a nose to the Jessica Harrington-trained winner. Highland Rahy couldn't live with the front pair in the closing stages and finished third at 11/1.
Assistant trainer Kate Harrington said: “We're very happy with that. He's been a bit unlucky, he's bumped into a few horses along the way.
“He's a good, solid horse and he's actually in Tattersalls horses-in-training sale next week. We'll speak to connections, but I'd imagine he'll go there off the back of that win.”
