Pink Sorrel showed plenty of ability in a close third on debut at Punchestown last September and, although her two efforts since then were underwhelming, she put it all together to comprehensively land the median auction maiden in the Curragh.
She improved from fourth to lead in the final quarter of a mile and asserted for Gary Carroll racing to the final furlong.
The Zoffany filly proved much to good for the field as she came in by three and a-half lengths at 11/1. Parish Centre picked up a runner-up prize at 20/1 and was a length and three-parts in front of Ghost Dance (16/1).
Joseph Murphy said: "We thought she was a nice filly. She had a bit of a cough and we gave her a bit of a break, I think there is fierce improvement in her.
“She has a nice pedigree. Gary loved her, he said she gave a heave at the furlong pole and just idled. He said 'I can see a lot of improvement in this filly' so I hope he's right.
“We'll see what the handicapper gives her and take it from there. I think she is a filly going forward.”
Pink Sorrel is a plant species native to temperate South America.
