Having made the frame in two good-class turf maidens in the spring, Persian Jewel returned from a layoff to take the Book Online At DundalkStadium.com Maiden for Paddy Twomey and Bill Lee.
The daughter of Showcasing, owned by Teme Valley, tracked the leaders before moving easily to the front a furlong and a half out and only had to be kept up to her work to beat Not Forgotten by two and a half lengths.
Winning trainer Twomey holds the 8/11 favourite in some regard as he explained: "She's a nice filly. She had a very good first run and she got a little setback on her second run so we had to give her time to get through that.
“She was just ready to run tonight and I'm delighted that she's won. She's always shown that sort of level of ability.
“That will probably be it for this year and we'll look to next spring. She's a filly that I think will continue to step up through the grades.
“Hopefully she'll be a black-type filly. She's out of a Galileo mare and she seemed to hit the line well at a mile there.
“Her first run on its own would have said she should have done what she did tonight.”
